Appointments are available on Thursdays only, with options including in-person consultation (between 9am - 1pm), video or a telephone consultation (at any time). At the time of booking $100 will be charged in advance as a part of your appointment fee. (Please refer to the cancelation policy below).
This will include discussion regarding your family history, options and consent for appropriate genetic testing, sharing of information, possible outcomes and implications of these for you and your family. In addition, any questions or concerns you may have will be addressed.
If you choose to proceed with testing and are either:
If you choose not to have testing we can still provide information about cancer risks and appropriate surveillance recommendations for you and your family.
This option is relevant for you if a genetic fault which increases the risk of developing cancer is already identified in your family. To make an appointment, you or your referring specialist will need to provide a copy of the genetic testing report of your relative.
There will be no cost to testing (if your relative had testing through us and a gene fault was identified) or if you meet the criteria for public health MBS Item #73297.
A maximum of three blood relatives can attend this appointment to discuss their testing options but a separate individual appointment will be needed to discuss their result.
A follow up appointment will be made to discuss your genetic testing result, including medical and emotional implications, surveillance and testing options for your family.
Due to the limited availability of the appointments and to ensure that all patients can be cared for, please be reminded that we have a 48 hours cancellation policy for all appointments that require rescheduling or cancellation.
The following charges will apply:
● If you cancel or reschedule your appointment 48 hours prior– no charges.
● Less than 48 hours’ notice - a $100 fee will apply.
● If you fail to attend your appointment, a full consultation fee $250 will apply
